I have been enjoying this inspirational article on Hearing the Voice of God by Grantley Morris so I wanted to pass it along.
Knowing, hearing, and following Jesus… the heart of being a disciple.

Roger,
Good Reference. I particulary appreciate the section about 5 “roses” down, “You have heard this principle applied to finances and to judging others but it is significant that in Mark 4:24 Jesus applied it to the way we hear what God says. In other words, the more time we devote to seeking God as to what he is wanting to tell us and the more attention we give to understanding what he says to us, the more we will receive revelation from God. On the other hand, the more casually and lazily we treat things divinely spoken into our lives – whether through people or circumstances or the Bible itself – the more we will miss things God is longing to tell us.”
The Bible declares that God rewards those who sincerely seek him Heb 11:6 The Amplified Bible says “those who earnestly and didligently seek him out”

The Missing Link – Silence
The Bible tells us God knows what we need, before we ask. yet we often spend far more time talking & concentrating on our mind, on our thoughts, on our wants, and little time seeking God’s thoughts and his wants. We have trouble staying quiet & listening for ,that still small voice, seeking the the Holy Spirit. Our society seems to have a aversion to quiet time. It seem that we are afraid to listen for his thoughts – afraid to allow him to change the way we think. We need to embrace our prayer life with the proper perspective. Your word warns that long winded prayers [Mark 12:40] tend to lack authenticity. Help us to first seek God, to let our requests be known, but then to trust God, to seek his wisdom,to yield to his will. Remembering that all along his spirit is praying for us, that he knows me far better than I ever will, that his will is to shape our lives along the same lines as his son. We have the confidence and understanding that God is on our side, so how can we lose, We just cooperate and trust in God’s promise to transform us by changing the way we think. He can break us free from our selfishness syndrome.
MKJV Luke20;46 Beware of the scribes who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the first seats in the synagogues, and the chief places at the feasts; 47 who devour widows’ houses, and make long prayers for a show; the same shall receive a more severe condemnation.
MSG Rom 8;26 Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray , it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. 27 He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. 28
